Understanding SEND
How We Support Children with SEND
At CA Alternative Futures, we are passionate about creating a place where every child feels welcomed, understood, and able to thrive. We understand that attending a holiday club or activity can feel overwhelming for some children, which is why we take the time to get to know each child and work closely with families before they attend.
Our experienced team includes qualified SEMH teachers and staff with extensive knowledge of supporting children with a wide range of additional needs. We recognise that every child communicates, learns, and experiences the world differently, and we adapt our approach to suit each individual.
We provide:
- A safe, calm, and nurturing environment where children feel secure.
- Inclusive activities that can be adapted to suit different abilities and interests.
- Flexible routines and personalised support where needed.
- Clear communication and visual support to help children understand expectations.
- Opportunities for movement breaks, sensory regulation, and quiet spaces when required.
- Positive behaviour support based on understanding the reasons behind behaviour, rather than simply managing it.
- Small-group and individual support where appropriate.
- A strong focus on building confidence, independence, self-esteem, and social skills.
Working in Partnership with Families
We believe that parents and carers know their children best. Before a child attends, we encourage families to share information about their child’s interests, routines, communication preferences, sensory needs, medical requirements, and any strategies that help them succeed.
By working together, we can create a positive experience that meets each child’s individual needs and helps them feel comfortable from day one.
We also work closely with schools, Local Authorities, SEND professionals, and other agencies where appropriate to ensure children receive consistent support across different settings.
An Inclusive Environment for Everyone
Although we are SEND specialists, our clubs are open to all children. We believe that inclusive environments benefit everyone by encouraging understanding, kindness, respect, and friendship.
Every child is treated as an individual, and we celebrate diversity in all its forms.
Our aim is not simply to provide childcare—we create opportunities for children to explore new experiences, build resilience, make friends, and develop skills that will benefit them throughout life.
Our Promise:
At CA Alternative Futures, our commitment is simple:
A SAFE, SUPPORTIVE PLACE WHERE EVERY CHILD CAN THRIVE.
We strive to create an environment where children feel accepted for who they are, parents feel listened to and supported, and every family can have confidence that their child will be cared for with compassion, respect, and professionalism.
Whether your child has an EHCP, receives SEND support, or simply benefits from a little extra understanding, we are here to ensure they have a positive, enjoyable, and enriching experience every time they visit.
